Nationalism: A Tool in Making Nation States, Historiography and Politics (ENG)

he course aims to acquaint students with the formation of nations and the impact of history, politics and culture on this process. Students will be introduced to the theories on nationalism, history of the study of nationalism and the interdisciplinary research from the points of view of history, politics, social studies, anthropology and psychology. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of the study of nationalism in historiography and political studies. By the completion of the course, students will be able to answer the following questions: What is nationalism? How did it emerge? What is the relationship between globalization and nation-state?
