The course aims to give students the survey of the totalitarian regimes of the 20th century. It seeks to introduce students to the best international scholarship, periodicals and sources and enhance their skills of working with sources. Emphasis will be placed on the genesis of totalitarianism: the rise of nationalism, populism and social confrontations. The course will help students improve their academic writing, research and analytical skills. By the completion of the course, students will be able to apply their knowledge to see the connection between the formation of the modern society, traumas and thought processes.
