"History of Soviet Georgia 1921-1991"

From June 2021 to June 2023, with the financial support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the academic staff and the students of the Master’s Program in Modern History of Georgia at Ilia State University will be implementing the research project “History of Soviet Georgia 1921-1991”. The scholarly supervisors of the project will be Professor Stephen F Jones, Professor Beka Kobakhidze and Irakli Iremadze.

A scholarly book based on fundamental research will be created as a result of the collective work of the Georgian and foreign authors, which will be published in the Georgian and English languages. This will be the first attempt to provide an in-depth study of the seventy-year history of Soviet Georgia. Students of the Master’s Program in Modern History of Georgia will be employed as research assistants, will be remunerated, and will work with such renowned scholars as Stephen F. Jones, Ronald Sun, Timothy Blauvelt, and others.
