Nana Saralishvili

For two years, Nana was one of the leaders in the students’ ranking of the Master’s Program in Modern History of Georgia and beneficiary of Adenauer Foundation scholarship.
She defended her master’s thesis on the topic Participation of the Georgian Orthodox Church in the Ecumenical Movement and Instrumentalization of this movement by the Soviet Government in the 1960s-70s. She concluded the last semester in second place. As a result, the Analytical Center Georgian Reforms Association (GRASS) will award her with 1500 GEL premium.
Nana received a full tuition funding from the Central European University (CEU, Vienna). She will study there Comparative History. Donors and friends of our master’s program allocated additional funds for Nana’s living expenses in Vienna: Mr. Mamuka Khazaradze assigned 300 euros monthly scholarship; Adenauer Foundation too provided 300 euros monthly scholarship; in addition, through fundraising organized by Professor Stephen Jones, 5,000 dollars were collected in the United States by: Professor Christopher Pyle and Cindy Pyle, Professor Frederick McGinness and Carole Straw, Irina Porokhova and Dimitri Rabin, Professor Peter Scotto, Professor Jonathan Lipman, Professor Edwina Cruise, Tornike Gogichaishvili and Marusya Chavchavadze, (Executive Director of “American Friends of Georgia”)

After graduating from the Central European University, Nana will pursue her doctoral studies and she will research the history of religions in Georgia.
