MA Program in Modern History of Georgia has its first graduates!

On July 14, 2022, the defense of the master’s theses of the Master’s Program in Modern History of Georgia was held.
The students were graded by the jury, which included professors Malkhaz Toria, Timothy Blauvelt, Beka Kobakhidze, Stephen Jones and Aleksandre Mikaberidze. The last two connected online from the United States.
In total, seven students were among the first graduates: Megi Benia, Beka Gabelia, Gocha Vanadze, Ninutsa Zakalashvili, Nana Saralishvili, Gabriel Chubinidze and Giorgi Chkadua.
The friends and partners of the Master’s Program established monetary awards for the top three students according to the academic performance of the semester:
Giorgi Chkadua was awarded for the best thesis entitled as “Mikhail Vorontsov and the Establishment of the Viceroy’s Institute in the Caucasus.” The publishing house Artanuji will give Giorgi an award of 2500 GEL;
Nana Saralishvili took the second place. Her research topic was: “The Participation of the Georgian Orthodox Church in the Ecumenical Movement and the Instrumentalization of this Movement by the Soviet government in the 1960s-70s”. Analytical center “Georgian Reforms Association” (GRASS) will give Nana 1500 GEL;
Gabriel Chubinidze took the third place. His master’s thesis was “War in Abkhazia: Chaos and Involved Parties”. Natia Gamkrelidze, a lecturer and doctoral student of Linnaeus University (Sweden), will give 1000 GEL to Gabriel.
