GIORGI CHKADUA

I graduated from the Faculty of Governance and Social Sciences at Free University of Tbilisi in 2020. I was studying the basics of humanitarian and technical sciences and after four years I finally shaped my precise interests and the future profession. Literature and Philosophy caught my attention. I started with my junior project Trauma of Holocaust, Narration and Self-reconstruction Practices. In this paper, I tried to combine literature and philosophy. I wanted to discuss the phenomena of trauma, what were the features of Holocaust trauma and how can it be overcome. The main text that I based my study on was a documentary novel If This is a Man by Primo Levi. While working on it, I got curious as we do not have in Georgia sufficient texts and research about our recent past and our historical traumas. Therefore, I wrote my Bachelor’s thesis Georgian Traumas in the First Part of Twentieth Century and their Narration in the Literature. I discussed the narrations which are different from soviet discourse and I tried to differentiate the real traumatic experience from artificially constructed memory that had been created by the Soviet regime. At the same time, I started writing articles for the Journal Indigo. In this case, my main focus was the contemporary history of Georgia and the history of Tbilisi. Now, my purpose is to combine my interests with historiography and continue my research about soviet traumas.
