The bilingual Master’s Degree Programme in Modern History of Georgia was designed at ISU School of Arts and Sciences in 2019, with joint efforts of Georgian and foreign professors. The courses will be delivered in Georgian and English by professors invited from leading European universities, as well as international and local graduates with a doctoral degree. The programme will bring together the most advanced intellectual knowledge in this field of studies, including cutting-edge international literature and highly rated works by Georgian scholars. An important part of the studies will comprise working with primary sources and research.
Programme graduates will be able to conduct research in their own and foreign languages, participate in international academic events, publish in peer-reviewed journals, continue doctoral studies at Western universities and establish themselves in a competitive environment.
Students of the MA Program in Modern History of Georgia will have an opportunity to study the Russian language as part of their extracurricular activity for free. They will necessarily need it for archival research of 19th and 20th centuries history of Georgia. First semester students will start from B 1-1 level and in the fourth semester they will finish with B 2-2 level.
Purpose
The purpose of the Master’s Programme is to educate a new generation of scholars who will be able to understand the advancements of historiography on the international level, conduct research in modern and contemporary history and internationalize their findings.
